How does it work?

 

How are my meals prepared?

Your meals are cooked on the morning of delivery. They are then cooled and refrigerated in line with good food safety practices. Shortly before delivery your order is labelled and bagged and Bab will deliver it personally.

 

Are my meals ready to eat?

Food is delivered cold with storage and reheating instructions supplied and explained to you if required. Whilst you could technically eat your meal cold safely our meals are intended to be reheated.

What time will I receive my delivery?

Deliveries will take place in the afternoon and early evening. We will do our best to deliver at a time that suits you.

Can the packaging be recycled?

Yes! The containers we use have to be durable as they need to work in the microwave, the fridge and the freezer if ever you decide to freeze your meals. The containers can be washed and reused many times and can be placed with your plastic recycling when they reach the end of their natural life. If you have no use for the containers yourself, we will be happy to take your washed containers away when we deliver your next order. The bags we use to deliver are paper and can be put in your paper and card recycling.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver to Erdington, Kingstanding and Sutton Coldfield.

If you live just outside our delivery area, please get in touch — collection is possible by prior arrangement.

 

Which days do you deliver?

We currently deliver on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Orders close at 6pm on the day before delivery:

As Dinner's Ready Bab grows, delivery days may increase. Any changes will always be shown on the website.

 

What happens if I'm not at home?

Because your meals need to be refrigerated promptly after delivery, we don't routinely leave meals outside if you're going to be out for the day. If you know you won't be home, please contact us before delivery so we can agree a suitable arrangement.

 

Can you put my meals in the fridge for me?

Yes. That's part of the personal service. I make the deliveries personally and, if you'd like, I will take a few minutes to make sure your meals are safely stored in your fridge and explain the storage and reheating instructions.

What happens when you deliver my meals?

Dinner's Ready Bab isn't just a drop-off service.

If required, I can take a few minutes to make sure your meals have been safely stored in your fridge and explain the storage and reheating instructions. Your meals will be delivered personally by me and I have an enhanced DBS (criminal records check) for your peace of mind.

If you're ordering for someone else, I can also let you know when their meals have been delivered, because sometimes, it's nice to know that someone's actually checked everything is okay.

 

Portions

 

What portion sizes do you offer?

We offer three portion sizes:

Lighter — a smaller portion for a lighter appetite.
Proper — a good, satisfying dinner.
Hearty — for those who like a really generous plateful!

 

Storage & Reheating

 

How long will my meals keep in the fridge?

Our meals can be safely stored in the fridge for 3–4 days, provided they have been refrigerated promptly after delivery.  This means that with deliveries on both Tuesday and Friday, you can have proper dinners ready for you throughout the week.

If you've ordered any meals that won't be eaten within the recommended refrigerated storage period of 3 - 4 days then these can be safely frozen. All of Bab's favourites are suitable for freezing.

Full storage, freezing and reheating instructions are supplied with every delivery.

How can I pay?

We like to make things easy, so you can choose how you'd like to pay:

Secure online payment when placing your order

Card or cash on delivery

Card payment over the phone

There's no need to use online payment if that's not your thing.

Food Safety and Hygiene

​

How do you make sure my food is prepared safely?

Your meals are prepared in a professional commercial kitchen at YMCA in Erdington which currently holds a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating.

All staff have a minimum of level 2 Food Safety qualifications and I have decades of experience working with food.

 

As Dinner's Ready Bab is a new business, we are currently awaiting our own Food Hygiene inspection and rating.

We are registered with Birmingham City Council, and our registration can be checked through the council's website.

Food is prepared, cooked, cooled, stored, packaged and delivered in accordance with our food safety procedures,

with allergen information and storage/reheating instructions provided with every order.
